Phenacorhamdia tenebrosa is registered for the first time from the lower Paraná river basin in Argentina. The specimens were caught in the left bank of the Paraná river at Yaciretá Dam, close to Ituzaingó town [Corrientes], and in the arroyo La Azotea, Pre-Delta National Park [Entre Ríos].
