abstract (from publication):
The examination of specimens collected during a recent expedition to the lower Yaguarón river basin (northeastern Uruguay), revealed the presence of the critically endangered killifish Austrolebias univentripinnis Costa and Cheffe, 2005, which represents the first record of this species for the country. Morphometric differences with Brazilian populations are discussed. We propose it as an endangered species for Uruguay considering its restricted distribution, found so far only a single seasonal pond of about 800 m².
